There are plenty of ways to achieve the effect, from under-cabinet spotlights to rattan pendant lights, says Dare.

Traditional kitchen materials like metal and stone aren’t exactly friendly: Abi advises balancing them with warm naturals, adding details ranging from rattan chairs and baskets to wooden chopping boards and linen tea towels. To enhance the desired impression, choose warm colours – coffee, cream, nut, golden brown, peach and apricot.
