Internet users were not happy with the actress’s photo shoot for the fashion glossy. Anne Hathaway, on the contrary, called working with Annie Leibovitz and Anna Wintour a poetic joy.

The cover of the August issue of Vogue with Anne Hathaway seemed to be a no-brainer: an Oscar-winning actress, an iconic location in the Metropolitan Museum, a Givenchy top worn on a naked body, and Renaissance-inspired posing. But as soon as the shots appeared online, the fans’ laudatory tone turned to disappointment — and Anne was not the focus of criticism at all.

The actress’s fans and just fashion enthusiasts pounced on social networks with reproaches against Annie Leibovitz, who shot the photo shoot. In the comments on Reddit, the 74-year-old photographer’s shots were called “terrible,” “unsuccessful,” and a “photographic disaster.” The lighting got the worst of it — users claimed that the light made Anne’s skin tone unnatural and flat, and the composition itself seemed to ruin the effect of the image.
